Michelle Jones is Chief External Affairs Officer at MMI, the leader in nonprofit financial counseling and education in the United States. Michelle provides the vision and direction behind MMI’s ongoing commitment to realizing new programs, services, and partnerships that address emerging consumer issues. She oversees MMI’s business development, marketing, fundraising, and industry relationships.
With a background in mental health, including a master’s degree in clinical psychology, Michelle has always been passionate about developing solutions that promote personal and community wellness. While serving as Chief Business and Development Officer at Clearpoint, she was integral to the creation and launch of numerous programs designed to stabilize and support underserved communities. Michelle has made extensive use of data collected through the course of counseling at-risk and new-to-credit consumers to identify trends, craft informed outreach and intervention strategies, and develop innovative services that meet their evolving needs.
Michelle serves as a founding board member of Project Light, a nonprofit accelerating racial equity efforts across Atlanta, and on the Leadership Council of both the Atlanta Neighborhood Development Partnership’s Advisory Council and Zoo Atlanta. Atlanta Woman magazine honored Michelle as a “Woman on the Way,” in recognition of her leadership within the industry, and Atlanta Business Chronicle named her one of the “40 Under 40” leaders in the city.
Based at MMI’s contact center in Atlanta, Michelle has been sourced as a subject matter expert on consumer issues by The Consumerist, The New York Times, CNBC, Bankrate, Atlanta Journal-Constitution, US News and World Report, CNN, and Los Angeles Times.
